CIPÓ is participating in the EU-LAC “Just Transitions Forum” in Barcelona

Plataforma CIPÓ has been invited to participate in the “European Union-Latin American and the Caribbean Just Transitions Forum” taking place on May 15th and 16th in Barcelona, Spain. The event, organized by the EU-LAC Foundation in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI), the Barcelona Provincial Council, the “la Caixa” Foundation, and the Club of Rome, was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and virtual elements.

The main objective of the meeting is to facilitate dialogue on the transition towards a more equitable and sustainable global economy. Topics discussed include climate change, social inequality, and energy transition. The event featured distinguished speakers from various fields, including business leaders, academics, and government representatives.

Notably, former Minister of Environment Izabella Teixeira, who received the United Nations (UN) Champions of the Earth award in 2013, was among the speakers.

Maiara Folly, the executive director of CIPÓ, moderated a working group focusing on the economic, social, and environmental costs of climate change in Latin America and Europe. The invited panelist for this session was Sebastián Nieto-Parra from the Development Centre of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
