Migration and Refuge

CIPÓ works to reinforce the rights and security of migrants, both voluntary migrants in vulnerable situations and those forced to move due to the impacts of wars, human rights violations and climate change. This work includes, but is not exclusive to, the Venezuelan refugee crisis.

CIPÓ produces knowledge about the causes of migration and its intersections with socio-environmental inequalities, and offers solutions to facilitate the integration of migrants in the host communities.

CIPÓ also collaborates with government agencies and international organizations to advance public policies and legislation that can guarantee safe and regular migration, as well as to ensure the implementation of important multilateral agreements and treaties, such as the UN Global Compact for Refugees, the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and the 1951 United Nations Convention on the Status of Refugees.
