China in the Brazilian Amazon: examining the relationship between the growth in commodity exports and deforestation
CIPÓ develops and carries out methodologies for mapping and analyzing the main stakeholders and their performance, capabilities, and gaps. Based on the collection of data and creation of databases that allow us to systematically identify the dynamics and impacts of different actors, CIPÓ issues publications on topics such as environmental crimes, international cooperation, and climate governance. This database does not attribute a direct effect between deforestation and the export of commodities to China, but it seeks to provide inputs for analysis of the socio-environmental impacts of the advance of the agricultural frontier in the Amazon, accelerated by the high Chinese demand.
