In an article for the World Politics Review journal, CIPÓ Senior Researcher Dr. Renata Albuquerque Ribeiro commented on the expected enhancement of Brazil’s foreign policy, especially in the areas of climate and environment.
Ribeiro argues that not even problems of domestic nature, such as the repercussions of the attempted coup on January 8th, should weaken Brazil’s international insertion strategy. On the contrary, internal obstacles can lead to an even greater emphasis on foreign policy, where President Lula could build space to advance Brazil’s priorities.
