CIPÓ in The Guardian: UK travel rules may prevent citizens from developing nations to attend COP26

On September 23, 2021, Plataforma CIPÓ was mentioned in the article “England’s Covid travel rules spark outrage around the world“, in the English newspaper The Guardian. The article addresses the UK government’s Covid-related travel rules and the country’s refusal to recognise vaccines distributed in Latin America, Africa and South Asia.

The article denounces England’s discriminatory policy towards countries like Brazil. On behalf of CIPÓ, Programme Director Maiara Folly commented: “I can’t see any health criteria to justify this”. For Maiara, these rules may even make it impossible for people from African and Latin American countries to participate in COP 26 climate summit, which is due to take place in Glasgow in November 2021.
