Plataforma CIPÓ’s Programme Director, Maiara Folly, participated in an episode of The Ripple Effect Podcast. Alongside Kyte Billy and Rachel Cox, the researcher discussed the measures that should be taken to protect environmental defenders from the multiple threats they face.
Folly highlighted the high levels of impunity with regards to lethal violence against against those fighting for land rights:
Of the 300 people murdered as a result of conflicts over the use of land and natural resources in the Amazon region in the last decade, only 14 resulted in a criminal procedure.
