CIPÓ’s Researcher, Nayifa Nihad, and CIPÓ’s Executive Director, Adriana Abdenur, authored the article “At the Forefront of Climate Action: Local approaches to climate-sensitive conflict and violence prevention”, published by the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict, GPPAC.
The purpose of the publication is to call attention to and provide examples of local initiatives for climate-sensitive conflict and violence prevention. In addition, the publication seeks toidentify existing initiatives at the local level to guide discussions on climate and security policy, which have mainly focused on the global, regional and national levels.
The publication provides an overview of key local initiatives to enable stakeholders — such as international organizations, donor countries and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) — to better understand the opportunities to develop locally informed climate action in environments affected by conflicts.
