On 12 March, Plataforma CIPÓ took part in a workshop organized by the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), in partnership with UNDP, on climate security risks in the Andean region, with a focus on Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. The workshop brought together specialists from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), as well as policymakers from across the United Nations system, including the UNDP Headquarters in New York and Country Offices in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, as well as the UNDP Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, to debate the key risks, responses and potential solutions at local and regional levels. CIPÓ presented inputs on climate vulnerabilities and security landscape in the Andes and their relation to migration and gender issues, as well as considerations on the potential role of the UN in promoting climate action and peace in LAC, including via the Escazú Agreement.
