On September 13, 2022, Plataforma CIPÓ participated in a regional consultation organized by the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime (GITOC) at the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP), in São Paulo. The meeting brought together experts in public security, international cooperation and the environment to generate input on preventing and combating transnational organized crime.

As part of the panel on environmental crimes, CIPÓ’s Executive Director, Adriana Erthal Abdenur, presented research on illegal gold mining in Brazil’s Indigenous Lands and Conservation Units, stressing the role of international cooperation as a way to complement the efforts needed at national and subnational levels.
