On March 19, Plataforma CIPÓ Executive Director Adriana Erthal Abdenur participated in the debate “Climate and Defense, what changes in global geopolitics?”, organized by the Center on Climate and Sovereignty. The event, which also featured former Minister Raul Jungmann, General Sérgio Etchegoyen, Major Brigadeiro José Hugo Volkmer and Marcelo Furtado (founding member of the Brazil Forest and Agriculture Coalition), addressed the relationship between climate change, security and geopolitics. The debate covered: the UN Climate and Security agenda; the concept of sovereignty and the Amazon; the rivalry between the USA and China; and the South Atlantic; as well as Brazil’s role in the climate agenda.
