On March 30th, 2022, Dr. Renata Albuquerque Ribeiro, Senior researcher at Plataforma CIPÓ, attended the “Rio +30 Cities” pre-launch event, officially called “Conference of Inclusive and Sustainable Development”. The conference will be held at the “Porto Maravilha” area, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, from 17th to 19th October 2022.
The main purpose of the event is to promote dialogue between different generations of state officials, civil society members and the private sector. The conference will debate debate themes such as sustainable development, local governments and energy transition, the link between cities and nature, resilience and adaptation, legacy, environmental justice, and food systems. According to the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, the event also seeks to place the city of Rio de Janeiro back at the center of the international climate agenda, as well as to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Earth Summit (ECO-92).
