CIPÓ was present at the webinar “International Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages”, promoted by the United Nations (UN). The event was held in commemoration of the International Youth Day, celebrated on the 12th of August. The event was recorded and can be watched here.
The purpose of the event was to create a space for debate around the potential of all generations to achieve the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the occasion, CIPÓ was represented by the researcher Gabrielle Alves, which spoke on the panel “From ageism to intergenerational solidarity”. In her speech, Alves mentioned some lessons and good practices that have been developed by CIPÓ and partners.
“To better understand ageism in the Global South for example, we have to understand the high level of inequality, racism, unemployment, gender violence and lack of quality opportunities that many young people have to deal with on a daily basis. It’s all about analysing data and ageism also through these lenses”, states.
