On November 13-15, Plataforma CIPÓ Programme Director, Maiara Folly, participated in a workshop at the headquarters of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna. The event brought together lawyers, judges, academics, representatives of UN agencies, governments and civil society to discuss ways to combat illegal deforestation, with a focus on curbing international timber trafficking. At the occasion, Folly highlighted Plataforma CIPÓ’s work in developing recommendations to improve investigative techniques to collect evidence to hold accountable and reduce impunity to perpetrators of environmental and financial crimes associated with illegal logging in the Brazilian Amazon.
