[VÍDEO] The cost of China’s infrastructure projects in Brazil

In a video produced by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, CIPÓ’s cofounders, Adriana Abdenur and Maiara Folly, in partnership with Maurício Santoro (Titular Professor of International Relations at UERJ), address the socioenvironmental impacts of Chinese investments in the Amazon and the Cerrado biomes.

The video is part of a study published by Carnegie “What Railway Deals Taught Chinese and Brazilians in the Amazon“, authored by Abdenur, Folly and Santoro. The article examines the diverse ways that Brazilian and Chinese actors have learned from each other as they negotiate the terms of these infrastructure deals, and also explores how these learning processes have been conditioned by intense domestic political debates in Brazil.
