The document “A New Economy for Brazil: Foundations for a Just, Sustainable, and Sovereign Development Project” is now available for download. The publication brings together the conceptual foundations of the New Economy initiative, developed by Plataforma CIPÓ and Transforma with the support of the Global Forum for a New Economy (GFNE). It was designed as a reference document to guide the debates, research, and development of the proposals that make up the initiative.
The document is structured around three central questions: Why is it necessary to discuss a new economy? What is meant by a “new economy”—and what does the term not represent? And how can such a project be put into practice? Drawing on these questions, it outlines the core principles underpinning the proposal and organizes its approach around key pillars and thematic axes aimed at building a new development project for Brazil.
According to the publication, the proposal for a new economy emerges as a response to today’s interconnected economic, social, climate, democratic, and geopolitical crises, arguing that intertwined challenges require equally integrated solutions. The document defines the new economy as a development project grounded in social justice, environmental sustainability, and national sovereignty, while upholding human rights, democracy, and multilateralism.
In addition to presenting its conceptual foundations, the publication emphasizes that it is not intended as a fixed program, but rather as a project under development. As a next step, Plataforma CIPÓ and Transforma will develop a repository of initiatives and solutions to help systematize and strengthen public policies and legislative proposals aligned with this agenda.
