Plataforma CIPÓ has received international recognition by being included in the list of “100 Think Tanks to Watch 2025,” published by On Think Tanks (OTT). The initiative celebrates research and public policy organizations that stand out for their innovative approaches, social impact, and influence on global debates. Unlike a ranking, the list is built based on nominations from other think tanks, experts, and members of the international community, reflecting peer recognition for relevant work carried out over the past year.
On Think Tanks explains that its goal is to highlight inspiring practices and foster collaboration among research centers worldwide, prioritizing regional and thematic diversity. The 2025 edition brings together 100 institutions from more than 60 countries, organized by subregions and fields of work, with categories ranging from knowledge generation and advocacy to innovation and global cooperation.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, 16 organizations were selected, including four from Brazil: the Centro Brasileiro de Relações Internacionais (CEBRI), Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), the Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada (IPEA), and Plataforma CIPÓ itself — all recognized for their contributions to public policy development and Brazil’s international engagement.
CIPÓ’s Recognition
The publication describes Plataforma CIPÓ as an independent, women-led research institute dedicated to issues of climate, governance, and peacebuilding from Global South perspectives. It highlights the organization’s combination of rigorous research, political engagement, and international advocacy, bridging knowledge production with strategic action.
Among the works cited by OTT are the Global Policy Dialogue 2025 report and the policy brief “Reassessing the Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation in International Climate and Environmental Governance: Trends from Rio-92 to the Present,” which links science, technology, and innovation to agendas on climate justice, inequality, and international governance. The recognition also mentions CIPÓ’s efforts to promote women’s leadership in climate negotiations, notably through initiatives related to COP30, to be held in Belém (PA), and its analysis of President Lula’s 2025 UN speech, emphasizing Brazil’s role in global climate diplomacy.
According to the report, these actions reinforce CIPÓ’s growing influence in international debates on climate and governance and its ability to amplify Global South voices in multilateral spaces. The organization was recognized in the categories of “Knowledge Generation and Analysis,” “Advocacy and Public Policy Influence,” “Innovation and Future-Oriented Roles,” and “Global Collaboration,” underscoring its multifaceted and strategic presence on the international stage.
