On 11/30, CIPÓ Executive Director Adriana Abdenur spoke at a webinar organized by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) on Gender, Climate and Security. The debate was part of a series of webinars on climate security that seeks to connect thought leaders, and future partners in the climate security space and its concurrent nexuses. The discussion touched on themes such as the role of women in climate-sensitive peacebuilding in the Amazon and Cerrado; climate challenges in Nepal; and climate activism among youth in Nigeria.
The series was attended by several distinguished speakers to discuss the need to prioritize the climate crisis as a national and international security threat – globally. The main objectives of these webinars were: 1) to bridge the gap between science and policy; 2) to discuss the importance of land, water, food systems science for peace and security; 3) to identify high-level policy messages to inform the international agenda on food systems, climate, and security.
