On April 28, CIPÓ presented some of its research on Chinese infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a focus on the Amazon basin, at a debate organized by the Brazilian Center on International Relations on Argentina’s ties to China.
During the event, which brought together researchers, diplomats and consultants from the private sector, CIPÓ Executive Director Adriana Abdenur spoke on the role of China in the changing climate field and how changing discussions around the Paris Agreement change expectations around sustainability and climate dimensions of Chinese investments in the region.
CIPÓ’s Project Fenxi 分析 (from the Latin America – China Observatory) analyzes Chinese infrastructure projects, including in transport and energy, that directly impact environmentally sensitive biomes in the region, especially the Amazon and the Cerrado.
