On 11/30, CIPÓ participated in a debate organized by the Nucleus of Advanced Studies of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (Fiocruz) on the economy of the Amazon. The event featured a lecture given by scientist Carlos Nobre, “The Amazon close to a tipping point: the need for an innovative standing forest economy”. Nobre is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Science (ABC).
In addition to Nobre and CIPÓ Executive Director Adriana Abdenur, who spoke about the importance of international cooperation for the implementation of a new vision of forest protection and sustainable development in the Amazon, the debate included comments from panelists Ricardo Abramovay (USP ), Paulo Cesar Basta (Fiocruz) and Daniela Chiaretti (Valor).
