Plataforma CIPÓ’s Executive Director, Maiara Folly, along with a delegation of Brazilian civil society organizations, headed to Brussels on March 8 and 9 to attend a host of events and meetings with European actors.
The goal was to urge authorities to review the free trade agreement signed between the EU and Mercosur to include more robust social-environmental assurances. The meetings also addressed the subject of the European Union’s legislation, which will come into force in 2024, and whose aim is to ban imports of products associated with deforestation and other environmental crimes.
