Following COP26, which took place in Glasgow (Scotland) and during the month in which Brazil’s celebrate the Black Consciousness Day (November 20), The Institute Diplomacy for Democracy (Instituto Diplomacia para Democracia) organised an event to discuss the different dimensions of Environmental Racism in Brazil.
At the occasion, the initiative’s curator and mediator, João Raphael da Silva (Ulster University), was accompanied by Elaini Silva – (PUC-SP), Eliete Paraguassu (Community Leader in Ilha da Maré), Mariana Galdino (LabJaca) and Mahryan Sampaio (UN Youth Ambassador ).
Mariana Galdino commented on the partnership with Plataforma CIPÓ in the scope of the project ‘Amplifying Voices: Combating Environmental and Climate Racism in Urban Spaces’, as well as highlighted the importance of promoting climate justice initiatives that have black, indigenous and traditional peoples at their core.
