CIPÓ in Folha de São Paulo: China at COP27

In an article published by Folha de São Paulo, CIPÓ’s researcher João Cumarú commented on China’s reluctance to allocate financial contributions for the loss and damage fund agreed at COP27, in Egypt.

Cumarú noted that this stance does not mean a lack of comprise, but is a reflection of different priorities for the Chinese foreign policy.

“China can offer expertise, technology infrastructure and capacity to absorb or transfer investment and share knowledge. It is one more option, given the priorities signaled by President-elect Lula [PT], to also explore lines of financing.”
