Over 150, including the Plataforma CIPÓ, have signed a letter urging the the European Union to take the obligations in the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) seriously.
The legislation, which has just come into effect, establishes legal requirements for European companies to prevent biodiversity loss and human rights abuses in their supply chains.
According to the organizations, the next 18 months will be critical in ensuring that EU Member States put arrangement in place to ensure this ground-breaking law is as good in practice as it is on paper. The English version of the joint statement is available on the #together4forests website.
