Civil Society Participation in COP26: Barriers and Contributions

On February 2, 2022, Together First, a campaign of which Plataforma CIPÓ is a member, published the article “Civil Society Participation in COP26: Barriers and Contributions“, authored by Nayifa Nihad and Adriana Erthal Abdenur (Plataforma CIPÓ).

The article assesses the role of civil society organisations in the negotiation process of the 26th edition of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26), held in Glasgow, Scotland. Nayifa and Adriana argue that the Conference “confirmed not only the urgency of implementing the Paris Agreement, but also the importance of consolidating an inclusive international climate decision-making process. For the world to achieve the goals and commitments set out in Paris, civil society must be at the table, rather than be sidelined.“.
