CIPÓ promotes more inclusive, effective, and legitimate global governance and regional mechanisms, including through international cooperation and multi-stakeholder arrangements.

CIPÓ also engages in normative debates, policy discussions and reform initiatives by regional organizations and global governance institutions, including the UN system and newer frameworks, such as the G-20 and the BRICS.

Regarding Brazil, specifically, CIPÓ monitors and analyzes the commitments and compliance with international agreements, treaties and regimes, including the Paris Climate Agreement and the Mercosur-European Union trade agreement, as well as the South-South cooperation arrangements.
