From October 27 to 29, the international conference “Reimagining the Global Development Architecture”, organized by Southern Voice and co-hosted by Plataforma CIPÓ and the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea), brings together leaders, experts, and research organizations from across the Global South in São Paulo. The aim is to discuss collaborative solutions to strengthen international governance and promote sustainable development.
CIPÓ is represented by researcher Nycolas Candido and Mariana Rondon, Program Director, who presented contributions on central issues for the Global South, such as the 2030 Agenda and global governance reform. Their participation reinforces the organization’s commitment to expanding dialogue among Global South actors and proposing joint strategies to address challenges such as structural inequalities and the climate crisis.
During the panel, participants emphasized the importance of the 1 for 8 Billion campaign, which advocates for greater transparency and representation in the selection of the UN Secretary-General, as one of the leading civil society initiatives pushing for a more equitable reform of global governance.
Throughout the event, CIPÓ underscores the role of Global South organizations in shaping a more inclusive and effective international agenda, grounded in principles of justice, transparency, solidarity, and cooperation. Its presence also highlights ongoing research and action that connect climate action, sustainable development, and global governance, with a focus on equitable and inclusive solutions.
