The Executive Director of Plataforma CIPÓ, Maiara Folly, contributed to an article in the French newspaper Le Monde, which analyzes Brazilian climate policy and the prospects for COP30, to be held in Belém.
Folly emphasized that developed countries need to contribute more in terms of financing and transferring green technologies so that developing countries can reconcile their climate goals, including the transition away from fossil fuels, with efforts to combat poverty.
The Executive Director of CIPÓ added that the election of Donald Trump in the United States makes these goals even more politically difficult. “The abandonment of the Paris Agreement and the emphasis on oil extraction send a very negative signal to the international community, compromising Brazil’s climate ambitions for COP30,” she stated[da administração Trump].
