Gender disparities and COVID-19 vaccination in Latin America

Plataforma CIPÓ is cited in the op-ed “Gender and vaccine equity must go hand in hand in Latin America: Regarding the impact of vaccination on women,” by Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF) fellow Marina Figueira.

In the piece, which argues that fairer distribution of COVD-19 vaccines, including via the COVAX facility, is needed to address gender disparities, CIPÓ Executive Director Adriana Erthal Abdenur states that “Making vaccination more equitable is one of the necessary means to help ensure that the long road towards recovering lost gains in women’s rights and strengthening their participation is achieved as part of the pandemic recovery.” Dr. Abdenur is one of the advisors for the IBRAF Fellows Program, within the context of the partnership between CIPÓ and IBRAF, helping junior researchers develop projects on South-South Cooperation, Sustainability and Climate Action.
