By March 21, 2022, the war in Ukraine had generated over 3 million refugees, especially women and children, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. In addition, it is estimated that millions of Ukrainian residents have been internally displaced.
Maiara Folly, CIPÓ’s Programme Director, commented on the issue in an interview for MigraMundo, in which she highlighted the importance of a welcoming and collective responses to this refugee movement in order to avoid placing a disproportionate burden upon neighbouring countries and, as a result, provoke xenophobic reactions towards the new comers.
