CIPÓ is a source for French outlet Reporterre on advances and impasses at COP30

Plataforma CIPÓ was one of the sources for a report published by the French outlet Reporterre, which analyzed the progress of COP30 negotiations in Belém and the main deadlocks that persist halfway through the conference.

The article, written by journalist Paula Gosselin, addresses issues such as climate finance, adaptation, the phase-out of fossil fuels, and tensions between developed and developing countries.

In the report, Maiara Folly, executive director and cofounder of CIPÓ, stated that “negotiations are moving forward,” even amid the difficulties reported by delegations. She highlighted the increase in the number of countries that submitted new emission-reduction commitments (NDCs): between November 5 and 13, the total rose from 98 to 111.

According to Folly, this progress represents an important step within the diplomatic process. Still, the article notes that advances remain insufficient to keep the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C within reach.
