{"id":9355,"date":"2022-05-11T11:37:04","date_gmt":"2022-05-11T14:37:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/plataformacipo.org\/?p=9355"},"modified":"2022-05-11T12:44:29","modified_gmt":"2022-05-11T15:44:29","slug":"un-peace-operations-lessons-from-local-risk-assessments-cipo-at-the-un-secretariat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plataformacipo.org\/en\/events\/un-peace-operations-lessons-from-local-risk-assessments-cipo-at-the-un-secretariat\/","title":{"rendered":"UN Peace Operations: Lessons from Local Risk Assessments (CIP\u00d3 at the UN Secretariat)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On 10 April 2022, Plataforma CIP\u00d3 spoke on its work on local climate-sensitive risk assessments at the United Nations Secretariat in New York.\u00a0 The panel on &#8220;Maintaining the operational resilience of peace operations in the face of climate-related disruptions&#8221; was organized by the Effectiveness of Peace Operation Network (EPON), hosted by Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI &#8211; Sweden), in partnership with the UN Department of Peace Operations (DPO). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CIP\u00d3 Executive Director Adriana Abdenur presented on the Guidance Note that CIP\u00d3 is developing in partnership with the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC). The Guidance Note is being tested by local partners in Uganda, Zimbabwe and Mozambique and will be made available later this year, in time for COP27 in Egypt.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel was part of a series of discussions organized at the UN by EPON on the effectiveness of peace operations, from multidimensional, complex operations to observer missions. The discussions brought together experts, researchers, military and police officers and UN officials to debate lessons learned from recent assessment studies carried out by EPON.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
