The Committee for Development Policy (CDP) is\u00a0<strong>a subsidiary body of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)<\/strong>. It advises ECOSOC on issues that are relevant for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a024 members\u00a0are nominated in their personal capacity by the Secretary-General and are appointed by ECOSOC for a period of three years. Membership is geared to reflect a wide range of development experience as well as geographical and gender balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CDP meets once a year at the\u00a0Plenary\u00a0and subsequently submits its\u00a0report to ECOSOC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detailed analysis and recommendations of the CDP are available in various\u00a0publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every three years the CDP reviews the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/development\/desa\/dpad\/least-developed-country-category.html\">least developed country (LDC) category<\/a>&nbsp;and recommends&nbsp;to ECOSOC and the UN General Assembly which countries should be included into or graduated from the list. The review is based on quantitative criteria developed by the CDP as well as country-specific additional information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CDP also monitors countries that are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/development\/desa\/dpad\/least-developed-country-category\/ldc-graduation.html\">graduating<\/a>\u00a0or have\u00a0graduated\u00a0from the LDC list and alerts ECOSOC of any sign of deterioration of their development progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CDP is assisted by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/development\/desa\/dpad\/about-us\/secretariat-of-the-committee-for-development-policy.html\">CDP Secretariat<\/a>, which is part of the Economic Analysis and Policy Division (EAPD) of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/development\/desa\/dpad\/our-work\/committee-for-development-policy.html\">Read more about the CDP<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In December 2021, Plataforma CIP\u00d3 Executive Director Adriana Abdenur was re-appointed to a second three-year term to the UN ECOSOC Committee on Development Policy (CDP).
