On November 22, Maiara Folly, Plataforma CIP\u00d3\u2019s Programme Director, participated in the debate \u201cBrazil Post COP26\u201d, organized by FGV Energia. Folly highlighted that, despite Brazil having announced commitments in Glasgow, such as the goals of zeroing illegal deforestation and reducing emissions by 30% by 2030, they lack credibility given the environmental policies implemented at the domestic level, marked by the worst deforestation rates in the Amazon in the last 15 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At COP26, Brazil pledged to end illegal deforestation by 2030, as well as reduce methane and carbon dioxide emissions, among other commitments to improve its climate record. How will these promises be met in practice? What’s the role of civil society and the private sector in tackling the climate crisis? What are the key obstacles for Brazil to achieve carbon neutrality in the coming decades?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
