{"id":5740,"date":"2021-08-16T13:02:49","date_gmt":"2021-08-16T16:02:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/plataformacipo.org\/?p=5740"},"modified":"2021-08-16T13:15:33","modified_gmt":"2021-08-16T16:15:33","slug":"the-importance-of-youth-participation-in-decision-making-spaces-shaping-the-future-of-the-planet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plataformacipo.org\/en\/publications\/the-importance-of-youth-participation-in-decision-making-spaces-shaping-the-future-of-the-planet\/","title":{"rendered":"The importance of youth participation in decision-making spaces shaping the future of the planet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In an article for ICLEI South America, entitled &#8220;The importance of youth participation in decision-making spaces shaping the future of the planet&#8221;, CIP\u00d3 researchers Lu\u00edsa Falc\u00e3o and Gabrielle Alves addressed the importance of promoting the <strong>participation of young people in spaces<\/strong> and debates dedicated to planning, developing, executing and evaluating public policies in different public spheres, especially in the environmental and climate fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The article also addressed the Escaz\u00fa Agreement, the first legally biding environmental treaty in Latin America and the Caribbean that promotes climate governance through the construction of participatory, inclusive and safe decision-making frameworks. The Agreement may represent one of the most important mechanisms to facilitate climate activism led by young people,  since it promotes transparency and the enhancement of meaningful public consultations on environmental matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a
