Between June 22 and 26, London once again establishes itself as one of the world\u2019s leading hubs for climate policy dialogue during London Climate Action Week (LCAW) 2026. The initiative brings together governments, international organizations, the private sector, academia, and civil society to discuss solutions to the climate crisis and accelerate the implementation of international commitments. Plataforma CIP\u00d3 is participating in an intensive agenda focused on climate finance, global governance, and strengthening Global South leadership. <\/p>\n\n
Represented by Executive Director Maiara Folly and Deputy Executive Director Mariana Rondon, CIP\u00d3 is engaged in both high-level discussions and the co-organization of strategic meetings that bring together some of the leading international voices in the climate agenda.<\/p>\n\n
The organization\u2019s participation began on June 22 with \u201cThe Greenprint of Security and Resilience,\u201d a dialogue organized by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) of India. The event brought together experts and policymakers to discuss the impacts of geopolitical transformations on energy security, global supply chains, and the economic challenges of the energy transition, with particular attention to the interests of Global South countries. Mariana Rondon contributed to discussions on how to reconcile economic resilience, energy security, and climate action. <\/p>\n\n
Also on the first day of the program, CIP\u00d3 supported the launch of the report \u201cWomen in Global Climate and Environmental Leadership,\u201d produced by GWL Voices, which compiles more than three decades of data on women\u2019s representation in multilateral climate and environmental institutions. The launch was followed by a high-level panel on representation and women\u2019s leadership in global climate governance. <\/p>\n\n
The discussion featured prominent figures in international climate policy and diplomacy, including Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and founder of Project Dandelion; Rachel Kyte, the United Kingdom\u2019s Special Representative for Climate; Bianca Pitt of SHE Changes Climate; Karen Wong-Perez of the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED); Renata K. Alvarenga of EmpoderaClima; and Maiara Folly, representing CIP\u00d3. The panel highlighted the persistent underrepresentation of women in climate decision-making spaces and called for greater diversity and inclusion in environmental governance processes. <\/p>\n\n
On June 23, Plataforma CIP\u00d3 co-organized the event \u201cAdvancing the COP30 Legacy: Climate Finance for Just Transitions,\u201d in partnership with Brazil\u2019s Ministry of Finance, the COP30 Presidency, and the Women Leaders in Finance Platform.<\/p>\n\n
The event brought together representatives from governments, multilateral financial institutions, civil society organizations, and experts to discuss how to scale up resource mobilization to accelerate the implementation of climate commitments and ensure that the transition to low-carbon economies is both fair and inclusive.<\/p>\n\n
Notable participants included Ana Toni, CEO of COP30; Congresswoman Marina Silva; Eleni Kyrou of the Green Climate Fund (GCF); Fernanda Santiago of the Women Leaders in Finance Platform; Anita Fion of the Soros Economic Development Fund; and Maiara Folly.<\/p>\n\n
CIP\u00d3\u2019s participation in London Climate Action Week also includes the co-organization of the strategic dialogue \u201cDefying the Age of Competition: The Global South at the Forefront of International Climate Cooperation,\u201d organized in partnership with the Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG) and Observat\u00f3rio do Clima.<\/p>\n\n
The meeting brings together representatives from governments, civil society organizations, academia, and international institutions to reflect on the role of Global South countries in building cooperative responses to the climate crisis amid rising geopolitical tensions, trade disputes, and increasing fragmentation of international governance. <\/p>\n\n
Throughout the week, London Climate Action Week reaffirms its role as one of the world\u2019s leading platforms for engagement among governments, the financial sector, and civil society. CIP\u00d3\u2019s participation has helped bring Global South perspectives into key discussions on climate finance, international governance, and cooperation in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape. <\/p>\n\n
