Plataforma CIP\u00d3 is participating this week in the Raisina Dialogue 2026, one of the most important international forums on geopolitics and geoeconomics, held in New Delhi, India, from March 5 to 7. The organization\u2019s Executive Director, Maiara Folly, is attending the event and will join the panel \u201cFrom Resources to Renaissance? Latin America\u2019s Strategic Rise\u201d this Thursday (March 5), which focuses on Latin America\u2019s strategic role in the international landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in partnership with India\u2019s Ministry of External Affairs, the Raisina Dialogue brings together around 250 leaders from approximately 60 countries, including government officials, experts, academics, civil society representatives, and private sector leaders to discuss the main challenges of contemporary international politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2026 edition opened in New Delhi with the presence of India\u2019s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, along with political leaders and experts from different regions of the world. One of the keynote speeches at the opening session was delivered by the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, who highlighted the transformations currently underway in the international order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Stubb, \u201cthe Western-dominated global order is over,\u201d reflecting a gradual shift in the distribution of global power. In his view, the current international system needs to adapt to this new reality.
During his speech, the Finnish president also advocated for changes in international institutions, stating that \u201cwe need to improve representation in global governance. International institutions cannot exist only for the powerful. The current configuration of power in international institutions reflects the world as it was, not as it is.\u201d
Throughout his remarks, Stubb argued that the world is experiencing a period of reconfiguration in the balance of power, in which the Global South is likely to play an increasingly decisive role in shaping the next phase of the international order, highlighting the growing role of India in this process.
Despite these ongoing transformations, the president argued that the rules-based international system should not be abandoned but rather reformed to better reflect the contemporary distribution of power. Among the points he raised were the need for reforms in global governance institutions, including the United Nations Security Council, as well as changes in international economic institutions and in the governance of emerging technologies.
The Raisina Dialogue 2026 program continues throughout the week with debates on international security, trade, technology, climate, and global governance.
