{"id":17435,"date":"2025-08-08T11:29:17","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T14:29:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/plataformacipo.org\/?p=17435"},"modified":"2025-08-26T11:30:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T14:30:08","slug":"cipo-co-leads-t20-south-africa-final-document-on-climate-action-and-just-transition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plataformacipo.org\/en\/publications\/cipo-co-leads-t20-south-africa-final-document-on-climate-action-and-just-transition\/","title":{"rendered":"CIP\u00d3 Co-Leads T20 South Africa Final Document on Climate Action and Just Transition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The T20 South Africa has just released its final document with strategic recommendations on climate action and just transition.<\/p>\n\n<p>The document is the result of the work carried out by the Climate Action and Just Transition Task Force, co-led by Plataforma CIP\u00d3, IDDRI (Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations), and Southern Transitions, with the support of the T20 South Africa Organizing Committee.<\/p>\n\n<p>Among the recommendations, the following stand out: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promote value addition and the fair distribution of benefits in critical mineral value chains, aiming for a green and equitable industrialization;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advocate for comprehensive just transition taxonomies, adopting a \u201cwhole-of-society and whole-of-economy\u201d approach, and provide political leadership in UNFCCC negotiations to ensure concrete outcomes and means of implementation for just transitions at both global and local levels;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Significantly increase financing for climate adaptation and just transition, in order to support the shift toward low-carbon, climate-resilient, and inclusive economies at local, national, regional, and international levels;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote the integration of climate and biodiversity action as a pillar of sustainable development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The recommendations also emphasize the importance of coordinated action among governments, civil society, and the private sector to address the challenges of climate change and ensure a just and fair transition.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/t20southafrica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Final-T20-South-Africa-TF5-Statement.pdf\">Access the full Communiqu\u00e9<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The T20 South Africa has just released its final document with strategic recommendations on climate action and just transition.
