The authors emphasize the importance of Brazil\u2019s leadership in events such as the G20 presidency in 2024, the upcoming BRICS summit, and COP30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Folly and Garcia point out that despite this potential, BRICS+ faces challenges, including the lack of updated climate targets and the absence of unified positions in multilateral negotiations. They argue that the Brazilian proposal to create a \u201cBRICS Climate Leadership Agenda\u201d could strengthen the group in key areas \u2014 climate finance, technological cooperation, and carbon accounting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maiara Folly is executive director and co-founder of Plataforma CIP\u00d3.
