Against this backdrop, Plataforma CIP\u00d3 launched the book \u201cEnvironmental Crimes in the Amazon: lessons and challenges from the frontline\u201d on May 6. The book is edited by Maiara Folly and Fl\u00e1via do Amaral Vieira, respectively the executive director and senior researcher of the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The publication is the result of a collaborative effort among prosecutors, federal police officers, public servants, researchers, and representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations. It aims to understand and analyze the challenges faced in protecting the Amazon. With thirteen chapters covering topics from gaps in environmental crimes\u2019 legislation to the resistance strategies of indigenous peoples and traditional communities, the book provides a comprehensive view of the challenges and potential solutions for preserving the Amazon biome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Folly, \u201cEnvironmental Crimes in the Amazon\u201d underscores the urgent need for coordinated and synergistic actions between government agencies and civil society to combat illicit activities in the region.
