Maiara Folly, Plataforma CIP\u00d3\u2019s Executive Director, and researcher Nycolas Candido will represent the organization in New York during the United Nations Summit of the Future (SOTF), which will take place on September 22-23, and the High-Level Week of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will participate in key events, such as the SOTF and the New York Climate Week (NYCW), a week of dialogues on environmental issues organized by the Climate Group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, September 20, Plataforma CIP\u00d3 and the Instituto Decodifica<\/a> will hold the roundtable \u201cPromoting Racial Representation in Global Decision-Making: The Role of the UN.\u201d The event aims to discuss the state of racial representation in global governance, with an emphasis on the UN\u2019s role in promoting inclusive, plural, and participatory decision-making processes. The event will take place from 10:45 AM to 12:15 PM (New York time; 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM Bras\u00edlia time) and will be broadcast live via Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the roundtable, CIP\u00d3 and Blue Smoke<\/a> will launch the policy brief \u201cUncovering Blind Spots: Racial Equality and Representation in the UN System,\u201d which addresses racial representation and equality within the UN System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 21, CIP\u00d3 will participate in the event \u201cPact for the Future and Beyond: Towards the 4th International Conference of Financing for Development,\u201d which aims to identify opportunities ahead of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development and the 2025 World Social Forum. Topics to be discussed include reshaping strategies to ensure the fulfillment of commitments and civil society\u2019s role in climate financing and other contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the same period, CIP\u00d3 co-sponsors the launch of the campaign 1for8Billion<\/a>, which aims to reform the selection process of the United Nations Secretary-General by promoting greater transparency and inclusion. The launch event \u201cMadame Secretary-General: 1 year to prepare the ground for a fair and inclusive SG selection\u201d will bring together a high-level panel to debate the course forward for a fair and inclusive selection process for the next UN chief and discuss opportunities arising from the Pact for the Future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
