The bloc was initially formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.<\/p>\n\n<p>According to her, the expansion is very natural for the group, which takes a critical stance towards the G7, a club considered exclusivist for not reflecting the world&#8217;s current political and economic power distribution. Chinese President Xi Jinping also welcomed the decision: &#8220;This expansion is historic.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p>Folly argues that both the new expanded BRICS and the G-20 are forums that &#8220;can be useful spaces for coordinating a reform of the UN system, which is urgent.
