On Febuary 09, 2023, Plataforma CIP\u00d3 attended the “Peripheries COP” (COP das Baixadas) event, held in Bel\u00e9m, in the state of Par\u00e1. The opening panel, “the peripheries at the core of the climate debate”, featured CIP\u00d3 Senior Researcher Fl\u00e1via do Amaral Vieira, as well as Joyce Cursino (Negritas Filmes e Prod.), Professor Ruth Helena (UFRA), Ruth Ferreira (GuetoHub), Val Munduruku (Engajamundo), Vit\u00f3ria Galv\u00e3o (Palmares Lab), Juliana Strobel (Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Avina), Waleska Queiroz (Rede Jandyras), and Brenda Brito (Imazon).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COP das Baixadas is a Climate Conference pilot event, constructed by community led organizations and activist groups based in Bel\u00e9m. The event’s programme and panels highlighted the climate action work carried out by local actors and community-based organizations from Amazon peripheries, as well as advocated for greater participation of such actors in climate decision making at all levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
